This workshop is an accessible introduction to the versatile intaglio process, with a focus on hands-on learning and non-toxic technique. Learn the basics of this elegant intaglio printmaking technique. Drypoint is an ideal printmaking technique for those who enjoy drawing. You'll prepare a copper plate by beveling the edges and cleaning it, then you'll scratch an image of your own design into the plate using an etching needle. You will learn to ink and wipe the plate using traditional methods and print on to hand-torn, dampened paper with a Conrad etching press. We will be adding areas of tone and color by pasting thin papers on the paper during printing, using a method called "chine colle".
